Rob Gronkowski reportedly ’50-50′ for Week 3, but should Patriots risk it?
Its the first time this season hes been listed as questionable, as he was doubtful for the teams first two games. Questionable officially means there is a 50-50 chance he does not play, while doubtful indicates there is at least a 75 percent chance the player will not participate. The 24-year-old has steadily increased his workload over the past weeks as he recovers from offseason back surgery, and reports have varied regarding his status for this weekend. Also of note on the injury report was Danny Amendola, who was listed as doubtful. Amendola missed last weeks game due to a groin injury.
NFL injury report: Week Three names include Reggie Bush, Rob Gronkowski and Ray Rice
The Falcons are managing Jones’ knee complaint but up to now it has not affected his performances one bit. NFL Extra – Jacksonville Cheerleaders Steven Jackson – Is out for around three weeks after picking up a thigh injury which was later changed to a hamstring problem. This is a worry for Atlanta who brought the experienced back in as the missing piece of their offence, so they’ll try and nurse the 30-year-olf through the season from now on. Eddie Lacy – was knocked out of last week’s game, literally, by a concussion on his first carry, and James Starks stepped in with a 100-yard game as his replacement. Lacy has been recovering well but Green Bay have already said Starks will get the start this week. Larry Fitzgerald – has prospered from the introduction of Carson Palmer at quarterback, but his hamstring injury has been causing him problems. He’s listed as questionable but practiced on Friday and should be fine to take the field against the Saints.
(The same went for Aaron Hernandez, before his unceremonious fall from grace.) Not only is Gronkowski a matchup nightmare and Bradys most trusted receiver, he graded out as the teams No. 2 run blocker last season on Pro Football Focus a testament to his all-around game. Running Gronkowski back out there early, though, could limit his effectiveness and would put him at risk for further injury. The Patriots believe the issues with Gronkowskis fractured and then infected forearm are in the past, but he has had back issues on multiple occasions now, having missed an entire college season due to that nagging problem. The Patriots do not need to rest Gronkowski until the playoffs or keep him inactive if he is 100 percent ready to go. But if there is any question at all about throwing him back on the field, New England would be wise to err on the side of caution.
Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski progressing after missing 2 games, but return date unknown
In his first three seasons in the NFL, he has arguably becomes the leagues premiere tight end. In 2011 he set an NFL record for touchdowns by a tight end with 17. In 2012, Gronkowski was limited to 11 games because of injuries and still racked up 790 yards while catching 11 touchdowns. This year the Patriots are 2-0 but could easily be 0-2. The scores have been that close. Week one they beat the Bills 23-21 and week two they beat the Jets 13-10. This Sunday they play the Buccaneers, another team that plays tight games.
Gronkowski still their website closer to doubtful than questionable
It goes both ways, he said. Its them trusting me that Im going to put the ball in a position for them to catch up and not get hit so they can do things full speed and not worry about if Im throwing them into something. Its just a lot of work. Its just a lot of repetition. Youve just got to put the work in and youve got to put the time in, and weve been doing certainly a lot of that. I cant remember a year where weve spent as much time together as weve spent since the spring and its going to pay off at some point. It would help if Brady had Gronkowski, of course.
Rob Gronkowski Upgraded To Questionable On Patriots’ Injury Report
Bush, who has been dealing with a knee injury since last Sunday, was listed as questionable heading into the game. Joique Bell is in line to pick up the reps Bush won’t take. NFL Week 3 Injury News: Gronkowski out, Miller set to return
Its the third straight game thats come down to the final seconds for the Chargers, who have lost two of them. Their offense looked sharp on a touchdown drive in the third quarter, but they didnt get many more chances as the Titans held possession of the ball for the lions share of the second half. Coach Mike McCoy will likely be second-guessed for running Ryan Mathews on third-and-nine from the Chargers 36 with 2:25 to play because the Chargers defense had shown difficulty getting off the field earlier in the game. And the past hasnt given much reason to bet that Locker could beat him on a drive starting with the Titans backed up against their own goal line. The next coach wont have that excuse. Posted by Darin Gantt on September 22, 2013, 4:13 PM EDT Getty Images The Texans didnt look like a team that walked in the door undefeated, and they walked out with plenty of questions. Quarterback Matt Schaub frankly squandered an early lead and a solid defensive stand by his guys, and his interception which was returned for a touchdown was the spark that allowed the Ravens back into the game for a 30-9 win.
